The latest reader poll has just come to an end and with some interesting results. I asked my readers the question:

Should PR companies approach bloggers differently to journalists?

And the answer, most definitely yes.

73% of voters agreed that bloggers need to be treated differently. Of the remaining, 18% didn’t know and 9% were happy with traditional methods.

For me this is fairly conclusive: bloggers want to be treated differently, something both PR agents and others who want to influence bloggers should bear in mind.

I’ve been so busy recently I clean forgot to wrap-up the most recent Reader Poll. So anyway, here goes. I asked:

Which of the following marketing methods have you found most useful for growing your small business?

From the long list of options provided, the two most popular answer by far were Websites and Networking.

I can only image those that have a website which promotes networking are on to a good thing. Facebook, MySpace, Bebo all seem to be doing pretty well I guess…

For the rest of us, it clearly indicates a need to get our online shop front in order. Whether it’s a static website, an e-shop, blog, vlog or other, it’s too important not to get this right. As far as networking goes it’s simple, get good or go home.

At long last here is a summary of the latest reader poll. This time around I didn’t get a massive turnout of voters, but none the les the results are quite interesting.

The question I asked was:

Have you ever bought a product with Private Label or Master Resell rights and never used it?

And the results:

75% Yes
25% No

Interesting! I know I’ve certainly done this. Bought a couple of ebooks with the intention of reselling them for a profit. However several months down the line they’re still sitting on my C Drive “gathering dust”. I see most of these products in the make money online niche and whilst I do truly believe you can make money this way, you do have to know what you’re doing.

I suggest only buying these products if they come with comprehensive instructions on how to set up a sales page, how to take payments and what exactly you have the rights to do. A money back guarantee is helpful and of course if you don’t have a big email list to sell to, you probably need to think about building this first also.

In November I asked the question:

Which is the best day of the week to publish blog posts for attracting the most traffic?

Interestingly all of the survey respondents voted for either Monday or Tuesday or both of these days.

I though this was quite interesting although when I compared this to my traffic reports I found a fairly even spread across the week, with slight increases immediately after each post.

If your aim then is to attract the most attention and build traffic you should consider posting on the first two days of the week. definitely do not post over the weekend.

In terms of the best time of the day to post, for me it is normally around 4pm UK time, but then it really depends on who you are targeting.
