Latest Reader Poll Results

At long last here is a summary of the latest reader poll. This time around I didn’t get a massive turnout of voters, but none the les the results are quite interesting.

The question I asked was:

Have you ever bought a product with Private Label or Master Resell rights and never used it?

And the results:

75% Yes
25% No

Interesting! I know I’ve certainly done this. Bought a couple of ebooks with the intention of reselling them for a profit. However several months down the line they’re still sitting on my C Drive “gathering dust”. I see most of these products in the make money online niche and whilst I do truly believe you can make money this way, you do have to know what you’re doing.

I suggest only buying these products if they come with comprehensive instructions on how to set up a sales page, how to take payments and what exactly you have the rights to do. A money back guarantee is helpful and of course if you don’t have a big email list to sell to, you probably need to think about building this first also.

Well, the next poll is now live and the question is:

Which of the following marketing methods have you found most useful for growing your small business?

Networking
PR
Telesales
Website
Events
Promotions
Advertising
Other

You will see the poll on the top right of the page! It’s free to participate and takes about 10 seconds, so please don’t be shy.

November’s Monthly Poll Results

In November I asked the question:

Which is the best day of the week to publish blog posts for attracting the most traffic?

Interestingly all of the survey respondents voted for either Monday or Tuesday or both of these days.

I though this was quite interesting although when I compared this to my traffic reports I found a fairly even spread across the week, with slight increases immediately after each post.

If your aim then is to attract the most attention and build traffic you should consider posting on the first two days of the week. definitely do not post over the weekend.

In terms of the best time of the day to post, for me it is normally around 4pm UK time, but then it really depends on who you are targeting.

December’s reader poll is now up in the right hand side bar. Please fell free to participate. The question I’m asking this month (and probably for January also as I’m late starting) is:

Have you ever bought a product with Private Label or Master Resell rights and never used it?

(should I have waited until Monday to post this…)

Latest poll results

Yes, it’s the end of the month and the end of another frantic readers’ poll. I’ll say a huge thank you to all of you who voted, a record turnout as it happens…

Anyway, the question was:

Which blogging platform do you use?

I had a range of 10 answers to choose from, but unsurprisingly only 4 different types were chose, as follows:

WordPress.org (you host your self) 57.1 %

Blogger 14.3%

TypePad 14.3%

WordPress.com (hosted by WordPress)  14.3%

No surprise to see that WordPress comes top of the pile then. It’s certainly the platform I use.

The new poll is now live so please feel free to participate. This month I want to find out which is the best day of the week to publish your posts to generate the most amount of traffic.

Thanks.

Which Internet Marketing techniques work for you?

For those who are new to this blog you might like to take part in the regular reader poll in the right hand side bar. For those that have been before, here’s the results to the most recent poll where I asked:

Which of the following internet marketing techniques are the most successful for you?

Answers: Affiliate marketing, Articles / PLR, Adverts (inc AdSense), Joint ventures, eZines, Blogging, SEO, or other.

Before I summarise the results I’d like to thank all of those who took part. It wasn’t a huge turnout this time around, but none the less you can still take a little value out of the answers. So here goes.

50% use blogging successfully as part of their internet marketing mix.

Not surprising really as most blog readers are bloggers themselves. Great to see how important blogs are in the internet marketing mix though.

20% have some form of advertising in their marketing mix, either Adsense or others.

I think it is fair to say that Adsense is the most popular blog monetisation tactic, at least until bloggers / internet marketers move onto a range of other tactics, such as article / bum marketing or PLR marketing (which came in a 10%.)

20% Also employ search engine optimisation (SEO) tactics as part of their marketing.

The survey didn’t ask in any detail what this includes but there are a variety of options for you to consider.

10% Use articles or PLR marketing.

It’s no secret that article marketing is a great way to drive traffic to your site and to increase your rankings. PLR stands for Private Label rights, which is essentially when you buy an existing ebook and rebrand the content as your own. Again this is not a new tactic but interesting none the less.

Nobody voted for joint ventures, affiliate marketing, or ezines.

Although perhaps due to the size of the sample this is not actually not that surprising. The other choices are clearly the most popular forms of marketing and making money online.

So as an internet marketer what can you take away from this?

First of all get your blog working and attracting traffic as they are a great platform on which to develop your internet business. In terms of costs of setting up a website, a blog has to be the cheapest available option there is - in some cases it’s even free. If you want more advice on this, check out Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind programme.

Secondly you should add AdSense to you blog / websites as soon as you can. It’s clearly a good way to make some money. You’re not going to get rich overnight with AdSense, but you should start to see a trickle of money fairly quickly.

The third point is to consider search engine optimisation tactics. I’m not going to go into great detail on what you can do here as I’m certainly no expert. Get yourself over to Aaron Wall’s site and pick up a copy of his SEO Book.

The final recommendation is to do a lot more than the first three steps. If you stop at that i.e. setting up a blog, adding AdSense and doing some SEO, you won’t get very far at all. The internet is full of opportunity and you’ll need to work hard to capitalise on what’s out there.
