1and1 Hosting - Technical Support

In the continued quest to highlight the good and the bad in the webhost world, I’m please to report another positive experience with 1and1. Part of my consultancy business revolves around web design and website administration for a handful of clients. This involves working with numerous different webhosts of varying quality.

On the rare occasion that I need to contact technical support, such as today with a reg transfer problem, I’m always a little nervous. After all getting support from webhosts can often be a bit of a lottery. It’s also not often the call is answered in my home country, I suspect that’s the case for most of the western world.

So how did 1and1 get on?

Well despite my call being routed round the world twice (well, at least that’s how it sounded) the actual advice I received was quick, clear and efficient. Above all else, it helped me to fix the problem in no time at all. I’m also pleased to say the phone number, although not toll free, was not a premium number and therefore the call shouldn’t hit my wallet too hard either.

So you could say I’m pretty happy with these guys. My overall experiences with 1and1 are really very good. I guess they have to be good to justify the higher charges.

Interesting. The whole 1and1 universe seems to be down at the moment - 15:03, 22/06/07 UK time.

It was a bit irritating since I had just bought a domain through them this morning but it is back up again now.

I set-up BankRaid a few years ago to highlight my battle with 1&1. A couple of years down the road and it all became too much too handle - and too costly as well. Too many folk ‘out there’ were writing to me asking for help. So, now I’m taking a different tack. I cannot afford to be so charitable and need some recompense for all my efforts. I’m proposing an alternative way forward. As it appears that 1&1 are virtually beyond the law, inasmuch that regulating agencies (both government and on the internet) seem reluctant to help the consumer, I thought I’d set up my own hosting company and try and attract customers - hopefully many from 1&1! Just seems that this is the only way to go. Please visit www.bankraid.com and see how life can be so much better!

I started with free host blogger :) and am still with them. Only once had i experience an issue and that lasted for a couple of minutes.. that is it.. after that my scores for the uptime, domain seeking and pageloadings were high for blogger (pay nothing and host everything(in HTML) :)
