"If you always do, what you've always done, you'll always get, what you've always got".

How good’s your host?

If you read my last post you’ll know I had a great experience with my web host recently, helping me out of a technical mud bath I was drowning in. I got a comment from Mark over at Mark Unemployed who’s heard of some horror stories with iPower. I also got a couple mails sharing my joy with EUKHost.

But how do you know whether you’ve got a good host or not when you sign-up? In reality, it’s very difficult to know, but the old adage you get what you pay for seems to make sense. If you pay peanuts you’ll certainly get monkeys.

So I want to try something out here. If you would like to name and shame a hosting company that’s wronged you, feel free to add a comment here, or send me an email and I’ll post it up. The only requirement is that you can substantiate your grumbles, otherwise it’s just plain old slander.

Alternatively, if you want to wax lyrical about your host, as I did about EUKHost, then again add a comment or send me an email. Any claims of greatness need to be proven though. As a bonus to the host and to you, I’ll happily add in any affiliate links as well.

So, go on, name and shame, or wax lyrical. Do something for the blogosphere and internet marketing community! Act now or forever hold your peace.

I’ve been using 1and1 and they’re pretty good. I haven’t had any issues so far. They aren’t cheap though, but the tech support is always available. It’s true what you say, you get what you pay for.

Every hosts have good clients and bad clients. So I doubt you will find a company with 100% positive reviews. I’ve been with httpme.com and they have been great.

I’ve been pleased with the support from BlueHost that I’ve had. $6.95 a month for the numbers they provide you is really good, too. I checked out a bunch of hosting companies before I selected them.

It is so true that you get what you pay for. I found a host that offered hosting for just $10 a year. Needless to say, that didn´t work out too well!

Now I am on HostGator and am paying $14.95 a month for their Swamp package, since I have several blogs and a website. So far so good, but it has only been a month, so I´m going to wait and see. So far they are going just fine, though.

Yep, there are plenty of people saying good things about Hosgator. Great packages that come with cheap domain names also. Hope you carry on having a good experience with these guys.

    Nice blog by the way.
