It's important to remember that Google does PageRank updates only once every few months. The last update was about a week and a half ago. So, Paula's PageRank didn't jump from 2 to 5 in a couple of days because of all the DoFollow comments, but because all of the backlinks she accumulated over the last few months suddenly began to count toward her PR.

But Dofollow comments help PageRank too- just not as much as you might think.

Thanks for that Ilya. I would have thought Google would update the PR scores more frequently than that, especially considering the significance it seems to have acquired.

It's a shame Dofollow doesn't help that much for PageRank. BUT, if it encourages people to leave comments and interact then it's already worth its weight in gold.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey I want to get on the movement, but what are the downsides of adding a do-follow on your website? Because from what you and the others are saying it would be a really good thing. I am always just skeptical about new things so any information you have would be great.

Hi Svend, so far I haven't noticed any downsides - but then I only got involved 3 days ago. Upsides include more comments, more interaction with other bloggers and increased back links.

I can't see what the downsides might be either. But then often when something sounds too good to be true, it is.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. If you come across anything then please let me know. In the mean time, thanks for stopping by.
